The Duality Drive was a Jump Drive built by the The Federation in Collaboration with The Company. It was designed to rapidly jump multiple times using a series of drives to fold spacetime on a parallel axis to time so no physical time passes, but large distances are traveled. This creates instantaneous travel that is measured to be 0 seconds for both the observer and the person on board the ship. As the ship does not physically move itself, but rather moves space, it does not violate the maximum speed limit of the speed of light. Due to this fact, momentum is conserved during jump. Due to the experimental nature of this drive, it is unknown if it is traceable, but as one of the first possible long distance jump devices, any form of help is unlikely to come for many years.

When the experimental design was being created, it was supposed to be installed in a new ship, but due to unseen circumstances-belief that terrorists had gotten a hold of the plans-, it was retrofitted into the USS Constitution. On this test, the drive was supposed to take the ship to Mars, then the ship would fly past the martian moon and jump back to Earth. Upon ignition, it failed and sent the ship to an unknown planet, which was named Bob by Captain Shack. The drive was still intact after the initial jump, but a majority of the ship was severely damaged. An evacuation of the entire ship was called, but before all could leave, the drive detonated, and was destroyed in the process.
