"Fix It On My Own" is the eighth episode of CaptainShack's POV in Season Two of Group Survival. In this episode, Shack and Morph search the abandoned Base With A View for w4sted and find useful salvage.
Plot[]
CaptainShack and Morphologis are calling out for W4stedspace following his sudden disappearance from the site of the Type Six drone wreck during a salvage mission. Shack decides it would be best for the two to go to the heavily damaged Base With A View for a higher vantage point. As the two make their way into the main structure of the old base, they fix the base a little bit. Shack assures Morph that they "don't need to fix the whole base man" before falling through a hole in the former control room. Morph heads to the roof as Shack makes his way down to the old runway.
Shack discovers his old Ultralight, which is surprisingly intact. After Morph floats the idea of using it to search for w4sted, Shack decides to salvage it and use the Rancor to bring it back to the base to repair the Warden. After a short bit of salvaging, he calls Morph back to the Rancor and they leave the old base.
In the hangar of the Silo, a timelapse set to the song "Hard to Let Go" by Daniel Gunnarsson shows the slow repair of the Warden, where Shack is seen adding new hull plating and repairing the engines. After a celebratory jump, Shack heads off to bed, where W4sted is seen looking over him in his sleep.
Notes[]
Fix It On My Own received critical acclaim from the Group Survival community, who praised it as being hopeful and uplifting when compared to the previous episodes in Season Two. Although the episode was intended to be bigger, Space Engineers multiplayer at the time was at it's worst state since launch. It took many shots and retakes to film simple scenes in the episode, such as Morph and Shack fixing up the old base.
When travelling back to the base in the Rancor, the vehicle's wheels can be seen moving in funny ways. At the time, an update to Space Engineers caused the wheels to be almost unusable in multiplayer. At one point, Morph can be heard saying "Oh my god, it's actually working. It's working!" which has been interpreted by some in the community to be Morph's actual reaction to the Rancor working properly.
