Potato cannon

"Potatoes has new toy..."

Morph: "Now this idea might seem a little insane, Tius..."
Tius: "Oh no, what can you possibly be talking about?"
Morph: "You just wait... you just wait..."

–Morphologis and Tius, Potato Cannon

The Potato Cannon is a battleship-class projectile weapon which was connected to a conveyor and connector system designed to allow direct attechment to Potatoes, the mining drone. The design was a response to weapons testing undertaken previously by Commander w4sted earlier that day. Given the rushed nature of the design and the limited propulsive capabilities of Potatoes, some would consider it a miracle that the cannon was even able to be lofted for a single shot, but this was not initially a problem.

Potatoes-firefirefire

Potatoes test-fires the cannon. From the projectile's initial path, you can see significant deviation in the barrel elevation, indicating the recoil's impact on Potatoes' flight profile.

Potato-damage

After the first shot, Potatoes' inertial dampeners were overloaded. The recoil of the cannon forced the nose down, making the second test shot pass precariously close to the base.

Shortly after the second shot, structural failure of the connector linkage resulted in the connector and both landing gear being ripped from the drone's chassis. Unsupported, the cannon dropped to the lake below. Fortunately the damage was localized and Potatoes' flight characteristics were not severely impacted.

Before further testing and refinement could be considered, both TIUS and Captain Shack intervened (though not until TIUS went into great detail on just what could happen if testing continued.)

Another appearance of the Potato Cannon in the series was in the "2 months ago" flashbacks in Episode 2 of Season 2. In several shots, the Potato Cannon can be seen atop Morph's science lab.

In the episode Static Enigma Morph finds the Potato Cannon near the old base. It's still quite intact and might be worth to salvage it.
